The Elections Commission has officially opened an online portal for the submission of candidate application forms for the Local Council Election and the Women’s Development Committee Election 2026.

The portal provides a convenient, secure, and efficient platform for prospective candidates to submit the required information and upload supporting documents well in advance of the application deadline, thereby facilitating a streamlined application process.

Individuals wishing to contest the elections may submit their applications through their verified eFaas account via the Commission’s MyPortal (my.elections.gov.mv).

Candidates contesting under a registered political party are required to obtain an endorsement from their respective party. Political parties will process endorsement requests through the SEMEDHA portal.

Applicants contesting as independent candidates must secure the support of at least 50 eligible voters. Support requests may be initiated by entering each supporter’s National Identity Card number, confirming their eligibility to vote in the relevant constituency, and providing their registered mobile number. Eligible voters will receive the request via SMS and may approve it through their own verified eFaas account on MyPortal.

Applicants contesting for the Women’s Development Committee Election are exempt from the requirement to obtain 50 supporting voters.

While candidates may enter their information and upload necessary documents at this stage, the final submission of application forms will only be permitted once the Elections Commission formally opens the official application submission period.

The Elections Commission encourages all prospective candidates to utilize the online system to ensure timely and accurate submission of their applications and remains committed to delivering an accessible, transparent, and efficient electoral process.
