Voter registration updates published; submission of complaints open for 2026 local council election and women’s development committee election

The Elections Commission has published updates to the register of eligible voters in response to complaints received ahead of the 2026 Local Council and Women’s Development Committee Elections.
The updated voter registry is now accessible through multiple channels:
- Government Gazette website: www.gazette.gov.mv
- Elections Commission website: www.elections.gov.mv
- Published at all city and island councils, with the exception of Malé City Council
Voters may also verify their registration status by sending an SMS in the format VR [space] ID Number to 1414.
The period for submitting complaints regarding the voter register will be open from Wednesday, 28 January 2026, until Sunday, 8 February 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
Individuals may submit issues related to the registry via the Elections Commission MyPortal: https://my.elections.gov.mv. Please note that any request to amend voter registration details must be accompanied by valid official documentation.
A total of 294,937 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the 2026 Local Council Election and Women’s Development Committee Election. Of these, 144,527 are male and 150,410 are female.
The Commission encourages all eligible voters to carefully review their registration details during this period to ensure accuracy and uphold the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
