The Elections Commission of Maldives has announced an extension for submitting candidacy applications for the 2026 Local Council Election and Women’s Development Committee Election.

 

Applications will now continue to be accepted for an additional two hours, with the new deadline set for 1 February 2026.

 

Application forms may be submitted daily from 08:30 to 17:30, except on Fridays, during which submissions will be accepted from 15:30 to 20:00.

 

As of this date, a total of 2,591 candidacy applications have been received for the elections.
