OPPORTUNITY REOPENED FOR APPLICATIONS TO SERVE AS MONITORS AND OBSERVERS

An additional opportunity has been granted to submit applications to serve as monitors and observers for the 2026 Local Council and Women’s Development Committee Elections and Public Referendum of the Republic of Maldives, scheduled to be held on 4 April 2026. Applications may be submitted from 3 March until 4 March 2026 at 15:00 hours.

 

Registered news reporting agencies and television networks may submit applications through the designated data liaison provided for media organizations via the My Portal at my.elections.gov.mv.

 

Media organizations wishing to appoint a data liaison are required to complete the form titled “Submission of Information of the Monitor Appointed as Data Liaison” and email the completed form to [email protected]. The email must include a copy of the valid license or registration certificate of the media broadcasting network, along with a copy of the DRA card of the appointed individual.

 

Registered news reporting agencies and television networks will be issued only one monitor pass, permitting entry to one polling station, and one monitor may be appointed for each ballot box. Passes issued to broadcasting networks will be subject to space availability within the voting areas.

 

Political parties may submit their applications through the SIMEDHA Portal at simedha.elections.gov.mv.

 

Private organizations may submit their applications through the designated data link provided for organizations via My Portal at my.elections.gov.mv, while individual applicants may submit their applications directly through My Portal at my.elections.gov.mv.

 

The number of observer passes issued to political parties and private organizations shall not exceed 10% of the total number of ballot boxes placed. Additionally, only one observer will be permitted inside a polling station at any given time.

 

Observers and monitors are required to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Elections Commission.

 

As of now, 3,091 applications have been received for monitors, while 1,477 applications have been received for observers.
